Zven Leaves Cloud9 and Looks to Switch Roles for 2024 Season

Derek Morgan

League of Legends player Zven has officially left Cloud9 after four years with the team. In a tweet on November 2, he announced his departure and expressed his desire to switch roles from support to botlaner for the upcoming 2024 season.

Zven had been a highly regarded botlaner in North America since the start of his League career in 2013. However, in May 2022, he made the decision to transition to the support role when he returned to Cloud9’s main roster after spending the previous season in the Academy team.

Despite the role change, Zven had an impressive year as a support player in 2023, achieving high stats with Cloud9. He had the highest kill participation rate in the LCS Summer Split, according to LoL Fandom.

In his tweet, Zven expressed gratitude towards Cloud9 CEO Jack Etienne for taking a chance on him when he was at a low point in his career. He joined Cloud9 in 2019 after missing out on Worlds for two consecutive years with TSM.

Cloud9 had a successful 2023 season, winning the LCS Spring split and finishing at the top of the rankings in the Summer split. Although they fell short of the title by losing to NRG in the finals, they qualified for the World Championship and made it to the fourth round of the Swiss stage before being eliminated by Fnatic.

As Cloud9 prepares to rebuild its roster for the next season, Zven’s departure marks a significant change. The team recently welcomed former player Hai as their team manager, adding another familiar face to the organization.

Zven’s next destination for the 2024 season is still unknown. However, he has received encouragement and praise from various personalities in the League of Legends community, including his former teammate Berserker, who expressed excitement about facing Zven on the Rift in the future.

Fans of the LCS are eagerly anticipating the potential rivalry between Zven and his former team as he embarks on a new chapter in his career.
