Top Teams to Keep an Eye on at the ALGS Championship

As the ALGS 2023 Championship approaches, fans are eager to know which teams to watch out for. We have compiled a tier list of all 40 participating teams, along with a selection of the most exciting teams to follow throughout the tournament. While all teams start on equal ground, their prior LAN experience and current form can greatly impact their performance. Here are some of the hottest teams to keep an eye on:

S Tier

DarkZero Esports, TSM, XSET, Fnatic, Moist Esports

The teams in this tier are considered the best in their respective regions, consistently delivering outstanding performances domestically and at LAN playoffs. These teams set the standard for competitive Apex Legends play, with players capable of making game-changing plays that can shift the leaderboard in a single match.

A Tier

Alliance, FaZe Clan, Oxygen Esports, Pioneers, Gambare Otousan, NRG, OpTic Gaming, LG Chivas, Aurora

The teams in the A tier are strong contenders for the championship trophy. While not as dominant as the S tier teams, they possess unique strengths on each map and can effectively capitalize on advantageous ring locations and rotations to gain a significant point lead.

B Tier

FC Destroy, PULVEREX, DreamFire, JLINGZ Esports, Acend, BLVKHVND, 100 Thieves, Sentinels, Complexity, Element 6, REALIZE, ENTER FORCE.36, RIDDLE ORDER, Onic Esports, Team Singularity

The majority of teams fall into the B tier, with varying reasons. Some have only performed well in one split or attended a single LAN event, while others gained momentum late in the season. These teams have the potential to go on winning streaks and make it to the match point finals, depending on their positive momentum in the group stage.

C Tier

MDY White, The Dojo, DSG, Iron Blood Gaming, GoNext Esports, SAF Esports, Tom Yum Kung

The C tier teams act as gatekeepers in their regions, able to defeat Challenger Circuit teams but struggling against top-level squads. Some of these teams are attending for the first time, while others have attended at least one LAN but fell out early in the bracket stage. Although they have lower expectations, they can surprise viewers and upset the expected standings with a few good games.

D Tier

AREA310, Les cités de France, NORTHEPTION, K1CK

The teams in the D tier qualified through their respective regions’ last chance qualifiers, fighting for the final slots in the championship. While they have the lowest expectations, each team has the potential to shake up the leaderboards and upset middle-of-the-table teams.

Exciting Teams to Watch at the ALGS Championship

The Dojo

The Dojo is an orgless NA Challenger Circuit team led by Timothy “iiTzTimmy” An, Alexander “Enemy” Rodriguez, and Tyler “Dezignful” Gardner. They have the star firepower and knowledge of a Tier One Pro League team, with an aggressive playstyle that is unafraid to take fights and confident in their abilities to outgun their opponents. The Dojo won five games during the Last Chance Qualifier, setting records and proving themselves as a threat to top teams.

Alliance

Alliance is a dominant team in the EMEA region, known for their smart early rotations and creative strategies. Despite facing setbacks, such as visa issues for one of their players, they continue to strive for international success. Alliance’s landing POI on World’s Edge is contested by The Dojo, adding an extra challenge to their performance. However, their determination and resilience make them a team to watch.

NORTHEPTION

NORTHEPTION is a Japanese organization that has experienced both highs and lows throughout the ALGS season. They have consistently been the closest competition to regional giants Fnatic but struggled on the LAN stage. With an overhauled roster, NORTHEPTION aims to prove themselves at the Championship, motivated by their previous disappointments.

Team Singularity

Team Singularity represents South America and has faced challenges, including the retirement of their star player, Felipe “Elysium” Zapata. However, Elysium has returned to the roster, bringing renewed motivation. Despite being seen as a weaker region, Team Singularity has the potential to surprise with their best-ever LAN performance.

Moist Esports

Moist Esports is a powerhouse team in the APAC-S region, known for their fast rotations and ability to control the flow of battle. Despite a roster change, they have had ample time to practice with their new member and aim to break into the top five at the Match Point Finals or secure a LAN title.

The ALGS Championship begins on Wednesday, Sept. 6, with Groups A and B featuring top teams like TSM, Fnatic, XSET, and DSG. Stay tuned for an action-packed tournament!
