Apex Legends is known for its extravagant holiday celebrations, with Halloween being a favorite among both the developers and the community. This year’s event may even fulfill one of the biggest fan requests since the game’s release.
The official PlayApex account announced the start of the Blood Moon sale, featuring new spooky skins for Loba and Horizon. The accompanying graphic shows the darkened version of World’s Edge’s Capitol City, hinting at the Halloween theme.
Apex news content creator and leak reporter, HYPERMYST, pointed out that this year’s Halloween event could bring back the original version of World’s Edge from October 2019.
Season | Map Changes | Notable Features |
---|---|---|
Season 3 | Introduction of World’s Edge | Capitol City, Vault Keys, Train |
Season 4 | Assimilation – Train disabled, Capitol City destroyed | Fragment East, Fragment West |
The original release of World’s Edge in Season 3 was beloved by players for various reasons. Capitol City, with its iconic “streamer building,” offered intense fights right from the drop. The introduction of Vault Keys added limited high-tier loot locations, and the train became a popular feature, transporting players across the map.
However, in Season 4, Assimilation brought significant changes to World’s Edge. The train was disabled, and Capitol City was destroyed, splitting it into Fragment East and Fragment West. Players could only experience these iconic locations during the limited-time Winter Express LTM.
Past Halloween events in Apex Legends have featured “After Dark” versions of maps, set at nighttime in their original release state. Fight or Fright 2019 took place on Kings Canyon After Dark, bringing back Thunderdome and Skull Town. Fight or Fright 2022 introduced Olympus After Dark, excluding the latest season additions.
The Blood Moon event, announced by PlayApex, is a store sale and not the Halloween event itself. However, Respawn Entertainment has a history of teasing map returns or changes, making players hopeful for the return of the original World’s Edge.
The Fight or Fright event is expected to start in early October, following the same pattern as previous years. It will likely run until the end of the season and feature limited-time store bundles, cosmetics, and rotating game modes on After Dark versions of the maps.
Apex Legends fans can look forward to the Halloween event and the potential return of the beloved original World’s Edge map.
