Astralis has officially signed Jakob “jabbi” Nygaard and Martin “stavn” Lund, former stars of Heroic. The duo will be replacing Johannes “b0RUP” Borup and Christian “Buzz” Andersen in the CS2 team. This move comes shortly after Astralis was eliminated from the BLAST Premier Fall Final by Heroic.
Jabbi and stavn were previously benched by Heroic, but will now return to competitive play as members of Astralis. Prior to their benching, they played crucial roles in Heroic’s victories at the BLAST Premier Fall Final in November 2022 and the BLAST Premier Spring Final in June 2023. They also achieved impressive results in consecutive CS:GO Majors.
Astralis’ CEO, Anders Hørsholt, expressed his confidence in the new signings, stating that both players possess the qualities and mindset that align with Astralis’ goals. He emphasized the importance of their desire to be a part of the organization, alongside their talent and hard work.
B0rup had been with Astralis since June 2023, while Buzz joined in December 2022. However, they did not achieve significant success in tier-one championships during their time with the team, apart from a top-four finish at IEM Cologne in August. They are now free to explore other opportunities.
Jabbi and stavn will make their official debut for Astralis alongside dev1ce, blameF, and Staehr at the upcoming $300,000 BetBoom Dacha tournament, taking place from December 5th to 10th. There is a possibility that they may face their former team, Heroic, in the event if both teams qualify for the playoffs.
