After five years of anticipation, the development of Elder Scrolls 6 has finally begun. However, fans will be disappointed to learn that the release is still several years away due to the team’s focus on Starfield, another extensive project by Bethesda.
Starfield is set to launch on September 5th, but this has caused a delay in the release of Elder Scrolls 6. Phil Spencer, the head of Microsoft, revealed during the Microsoft FTC Trial that the same developers working on Starfield will also be working on ES6. As a result, the release of ES6 is estimated to be at least five years away.
Furthermore, it is unclear which platforms ES6 will be available on. However, considering Bethesda’s history, it is likely to be an Xbox exclusive.
Unfortunately, this means that fans who were excited by the ES6 teaser at E3 2018 will have to wait at least 10 years for the sequel to arrive.
According to Pete Hines, a vice president at Bethesda, ES6 is still in its earliest stages of development. Considering the lengthy development time for Starfield, which took over 10 years, the projected release date of 2028 for ES6 may be overly optimistic.
Overall, it is disappointing news for Elder Scrolls fans, as the release of ES6 is still far off. Despite the anticipation and excitement surrounding the game, it seems that patience will be required.
