Larian Studios’ CEO Swen Vincke has announced that Baldur’s Gate 3 may be available on Xbox Series X|S in the next few months. This is great news for Xbox players who have been eagerly awaiting the RPG’s release on their platform. Originally, the game was set to launch on Xbox in 2024 due to a split-screen issue on Xbox Series S. However, Larian Studios found a solution for this problem after a meeting with Phil Spencer, the head of Xbox, on Aug. 24.
In an interview with IGN on Aug. 30, Vincke stated that Baldur’s Gate 3 could potentially be released for Xbox between September and November, as soon as possible. Currently, the focus is on the PlayStation 5 release scheduled for Sept. 6. Once the PS5 version is out and the PC port is patched, the developers will shift their attention to the Xbox version.
Vincke assured IGN that the Xbox Series X version is in good shape and close to completion from both a content and technical standpoint. Larian Studios likely wants to release Baldur’s Gate 3 for Xbox while interest in the game is still high. The PC version has gained significant recognition since its exit from early access on Aug. 3, and console players are eager to experience it as well.
Considering the upcoming release of other highly anticipated games, such as Starfield on Aug. 31, Larian Studios aims to bring Baldur’s Gate 3 to Xbox as soon as possible to capture players’ attention before they move on to other titles. By doing so, they ensure that the game remains relevant and engaging for Xbox players.
