Prepare for an aggressive and versatile gameplay with the new Magic: The Gathering commander, Caesar, Legion’s Emperor. This legendary creature draws inspiration from one of the most tyrannical characters in the Fallout franchise. With a Mardu color combination, this deck focuses on casting low-cost creatures and generating an army of tokens to overwhelm your opponents.
Caesar, Legion’s Emperor:
- Mana Cost: 1RWB
- Type: Legendary Creature – Human Soldier
- Rarity: Mythic Rare
- Ability: Whenever you attack, you may sacrifice another creature. When you do, choose two –
- Create two 1/1 red and white Soldiers creature tokens with haste that are tapped and attacking.
- You draw a card and you lose one life.
- Caesar, Legion’s Emperor deals damage equal to the number of creature tokens you control to target opponent.
Caesar, the main antagonist in Fallout: New Vegas, brings his brutality and disregard for human life to the battlefield. His ability requires sacrificing another creature when attacking, reflecting his strength and cunningness. With impressive stats as a 4/4 human creature, Caesar can choose two out of three abilities each time he attacks.
The strategy revolves around creating a multitude of soldier tokens that enter the battlefield tapped and attacking. The player can then deal damage to a target opponent equal to the number of tokens they control. This minimum of two damage can be combined with other options, such as losing one life and drawing a card, allowing for thoughtful and strategic gameplay.
Squad Mechanic:
- Mana Cost: 1W
- Type: Creature – Human Citizen
- Rarity: Uncommon
- Ability: Squad 2 (As an additional cost to cast this spell, you may pay 2 any number of times. When this creature enters the battlefield, create that many tokens that are copies of it.) Whenever Gary Clone attacks, each creature you control named Gary Clones gets +1/+0 until end of turn.
The Squad mechanic adds an exciting twist to the MTG battlefield. By investing extra mana during casting, players can amplify a creature’s entrance by creating identical tokens for each additional cost paid. Cards like Gary Clone can singlehandedly create an army with enough mana. This mechanic perfectly complements Mardu decks aiming for a go-wide strategy.
Players can look forward to playing the Hail, Caesar preconstructed Commander deck when the MTG Universes Beyond Fallout set releases on March 8.
