Peanut Butter, a Shiba Inu and record-holding speedrunner, is set to make waves in the speedrunning community at Awesome Games Done Quick next January. This talented dog will take center stage to prove that man’s best friend can conquer one of Nintendo’s oldest games.
The challenge for Peanut Butter, a little doggo, will be to complete the 1985 NES title Gyromite on stage and attempt to beat the current record time of 25 minutes and 29 seconds. As the only runner in the Dog Assistance category, Peanut Butter is paving the way for other furry competitors.
While it may seem unusual for a dog to participate in speedrunning, Peanut Butter’s previous run of Gyromite was recorded and showcased the unique controller and guidance from the owner. With this assistance, Peanut Butter breezed through the game, setting a record that is not far off from the human world record of 24 minutes and 56 seconds.
This historic moment at Awesome Games Done Quick will mark the first time an animal takes the stage at the event, making it a significant milestone for the speedrunning community. Peanut Butter’s presence promises to captivate and surprise viewers as they witness the incredible skills of this canine speedrunner.
Joining Peanut Butter at AGDQ will be the owner and fellow speedrunner JSR_, who will be competing in Castlevania III: Dracula’s Curse. Together, they will showcase their talents and push the boundaries of what is possible in the world of speedrunning.
AGDQ 2024 is scheduled to take place from January 14 to January 21. Don’t miss this extraordinary event where Peanut Butter and JSR_ will make history and inspire a new generation of speedrunners.
