Chinese Formula One driver Zhou Guanyu has surprised fans by revealing his passion for Counter-Strike. In an Instagram post that has since been deleted, Zhou shared a screenshot of him playing the game with Heroic captain Casper “cadiaN” Møller. The post caught the attention of both the Counter-Strike and F1 communities, sparking excitement among fans.
Zhou, who drives for Alfa Romeo, expressed his enthusiasm for the launch of CS2 and tagged cadiaN in his post. It is evident that Zhou enjoys playing Counter-Strike in his free time, as he showcased his impressive skin collection and appeared to be engaged in a ranked or Premier match.
Despite being a professional F1 driver, Zhou finds time to indulge in his gaming hobby. He has been competing in Formula One for almost two years, joining Alfa Romeo in 2022 after a successful stint in F2. In his debut season, Zhou secured six championship points and achieved his best finish of eighth place at the Canadian Grand Prix.
Throughout the 2023 season, Zhou has consistently performed in the midfield. He has scored points in Australia and Spain and is currently only two points behind his experienced teammate Valtteri Bottas. With six races remaining this year, Zhou has the opportunity to further showcase his skills on the track.
Zhou is not the only F1 driver who enjoys gaming. Lando Norris, a British star, founded his own gaming and esports organization called Quadrant. Other drivers like Charles Leclerc, Alex Albon, and George Russell also engage in gaming and streaming during the off-season. Yuki Tsunoda, from Alpha Tauri, has even revealed that he spends long hours playing Apex Legends.
It’s exciting to think that the next time you play Counter-Strike, you might find yourself facing off against a real Formula One driver. Just be prepared for their quick rotations and lightning-fast reflexes. Who knows, you might even learn a thing or two from them.
