Cloud9 Extends Contracts of Key Players for 2024 and Beyond

Derek Morgan

Cloud9 has secured the services of their star AD carry, Berserker, until the end of the 2025 League of Legends season. This comes shortly after the organization confirmed contract extensions for their top-side duo, Blaber and Fudge. With the expected signings of Jojopyun and Vulcan, Cloud9’s roster for the 2024 season is taking shape. The team is now set for the foreseeable future, with Berserker, Blaber, and Fudge signed until at least the end of the 2026 competitive year.

Cloud9’s moves in the player market this offseason have been relatively unsurprising. Blaber and Berserker were considered among the best players in the LCS, both earning first-team All-Pro honors in Summer. Despite their underwhelming performance at the 2023 World Championship, it was expected that Cloud9 would prioritize retaining their core players. Fudge has also been a crucial part of the team’s leadership.

Since joining Cloud9 in late 2021, Berserker has achieved significant domestic success. In their first LCS campaign in 2022, Cloud9 finished fourth in the Spring playoffs but went on to win the 2022 Championship. However, they struggled at Worlds, finishing 15th-16th. A roster shuffle in 2023 saw changes in the mid lane, with Diplex and then EMENES stepping in. This adjustment had an immediate positive impact as Cloud9 won the Season Kick-Off and successfully defended their domestic title. They finished second in the Championship, behind NRG, and placed 12th-14th at Worlds.

The new-look Cloud9 roster for the 2024 LCS season, featuring Jojopyun and Vulcan alongside Blaber, Fudge, and Berserker, instantly becomes one of the strongest contenders for the title in North America. The re-signed core players bring three years of experience, giving Cloud9 an advantage over other teams. Fans can expect an official announcement of the Jojopyun and Vulcan signings on social media later this week.
