Companions in Baldur’s Gate 3: The Importance of Allies

superadmin

In the world of Baldur’s Gate 3, finding companions is crucial for your adventure. Larian Studios, the game’s developer, has dropped some hints that going solo may not be the best idea.

A fan noticed that characters who claim to work better alone often end up dead, such as the Tiefling near the mountain pass and the Drow near Auntie Ethel’s mushroom circle. Even one of the Githyanki’s books emphasizes the importance of allies and friendships, shedding light on Lae’zel’s behavior.

During a solo tactician run, players discovered that most loading screen tips emphasized the benefits of having a strong party. This could be seen as a playful jab at the Lone Wolf concept from Larian’s previous games, Divinity: Original Sin and Divinity: Original Sin 2.

In those games, the Lone Wolf trait provided defensive bonuses and attribute point boosts. However, BG3 does not offer a similar trait. The only acknowledgment of a solo playthrough comes at the end of the game when speaking to the Dream Visitor.

While it would be great if Larian added a Lone Wolf alternative to BG3, solo runs are currently quite challenging. Some players find joy in the puzzle-like nature of finding creative solutions without a party, but others hope for a more accessible solo experience in the future.
