Counter-Strike 2 Premier Mode Faces Criticism for Unfair Matchmaking

Xavier Ward

Counter-Strike 2 has been out for over a week now, but it is not without its flaws. One of the major issues players have encountered is with the Premier mode, which many feel is not as polished as it should be. On October 6, a Reddit user shared a bizarre case of unfair matchmaking in this mode.

The player, known as Randuum, posted the result of a game where his team was matched against five top-ranked players globally. The average rating difference between the enemy team and Randuum’s squad was around 18,000, which seemed to defy logic and left players feeling that the mode is broken.

The top comment on the post expressed frustration with the matchmaking system, stating that this match should not even be possible. It also highlighted the fact that lower-rated players lose Elo points from such matches, making the system seem intentionally flawed. Despite overwhelming negative feedback, Valve has made no changes to address these issues.

Unfortunately, the problems with Counter-Strike 2’s Premier matchmaking go beyond just unfair lobbies. Many players have reported experiencing multiple FPS drops and other performance issues. On October 5, Natus Vincere’s s1mple even went as far as saying that the game is currently unplayable.

However, there is still hope that Valve will address these issues one by one. Some players, including ENCE’s Snappi and FaZe Clan’s ropz, believe that forcing professionals to play Counter-Strike 2 and provide feedback is the fastest way to fix the game.
