Cyberpunk 2077 fans are eagerly awaiting the release of the game’s first expansion, “Phantom Liberty,” which is scheduled to debut on September 26th. This highly anticipated expansion will introduce new celebrities to the cast, including the talented Idris Elba. However, disappointing news has emerged that players will not have the option to romance Elba’s character.
In “Phantom Liberty,” Elba portrays Solomon Reed, a skilled member of the Federal Intelligence Agency. While the trailer hasn’t revealed much about the storyline, players are excited to delve into this new adventure. Many had hoped for the opportunity to pursue a romantic relationship with Elba’s character, but the actor himself confirmed in an interview with IGN that it won’t be possible.
Elba’s statement dashed the hopes of fans who were already longing for the chance to romance Keanu Reeves’ character, Johnny Silverhand. It seems that we will have to accept the role of friends with Elba’s Solomon Reed instead.
Despite this setback, Cyberpunk 2077 has featured well-developed characters in the past that players could romance. Perhaps “Phantom Liberty” will introduce new romantic options as well. However, with the intriguing story and the addition of the Dogtown district, players will likely be captivated by the main questline and won’t have time for any additional romantic pursuits.
The latest cinematic trailer for “Phantom Liberty” showcases Reed’s attempt to escape Night City by train. Unfortunately, he is ambushed by a group of agents who frame him alongside one of his Netrunner allies. The outcome of this encounter remains unclear, but these events are said to have taken place seven years ago. The trailer concludes with President Rosalind Myers’ ship being struck by a missile in space and seemingly crash-landing in Night City.
It is expected that once the ship lands, the player character (V) will make contact with Reed, who miraculously survived, and embark on a mission to save the president. Fortunately, fans won’t have to wait much longer to uncover the full story, as the “Phantom Liberty” expansion premieres on September 26th.
