Defeating Mewtwo in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet: A Clever Strategy Revealed

superadmin

Pokémon players are always on the lookout for clever strategies to win battles, especially when facing powerful opponents like Mewtwo. In the final part of Pokémon Scarlet and Violet’s Mew and Mewtwo celebration, players have the opportunity to add a Mewtwo with the Mightiest Mark to their parties. However, this Tera Raid Battle has proven to be more challenging than previous events. Luckily, players have discovered a specific strategy to counter one of Mewtwo’s most frustrating moves.

The Tera Raid Battle begins with Mewtwo using Calm Mind and setting up a protective barrier. Players must gradually chip away at this barrier using their chosen Pokémon. Once the barrier breaks, Mewtwo retaliates by using Rest to fully heal itself. However, players have found a way to prevent Mewtwo from using Rest altogether.

By utilizing the Mythical Pokémon Mew and its move Electric Terrain, players can effectively counter Mewtwo’s Rest move. In this particular Tera Raid Battle, Mew receives a significant boost to all of its stats. By timing the use of Electric Terrain just before Mewtwo’s barrier shatters, the move’s effect prevents Mewtwo from falling asleep under the sleep-inducing Rest move. This means that players will face a weakened Mewtwo, rather than one that has fully recovered. Alternatively, players can teach Mew the move Misty Terrain, which also prevents status conditions from being inflicted.

The Mewtwo Tera Raid Battle event is currently ongoing in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet and will be available until September 15th. To participate in this Raid, trainers must first complete the game’s main story and find the black Tera Crystal in the Paldea region.
