Deltarune Chapter 3 Update: Almost Ready, but Unfinished

superadmin

Toby Fox, the lead developer of Deltarune, has provided an update on the progress of Chapter 3. While the chapter is nearing completion, it still requires some additional work before it can be released. According to Toby, the game is now playable from start to finish, but there are still unfinished parts that need attention. Despite the challenges, the team is making steady progress and the remaining tasks are becoming fewer. However, Toby humorously mentions that until the game is finished, he will continue to have nightmares about it.

In the development process, the team considered implementing a new stealth mechanic for Chapter 3. However, after experimenting with the concept, they realized that simply slowing down the player’s movement wasn’t enjoyable. As a result, they decided to scrap the idea and focus on other aspects of the game.

Although Chapter 3 is not yet ready for release, Toby Fox has treated fans to a new song. Originally intended to accompany the unused stealth mechanic, the song has been released separately for fans to enjoy. You can listen to it here.

Deltarune Chapter 2 was released two years ago as a free addition alongside Chapter 1. Toby Fox initially planned for the game to consist of five chapters, but due to the complexity of development, he decided to release Chapter 2 first and combine Chapters 3, 4, and 5 into a single release in the future.
