Get ready for the return of Detective Pikachu in Pokémon Go! A teaser image shared today suggests that the beloved character might be making a comeback in the popular mobile game.
Last year, Pokémon Go held a special event to coincide with the release of the Detective Pikachu movie. Trainers had the opportunity to participate in Field Research, encounter Detective Pikachu through photobombs, and take part in Raid Battles. The event also increased the chances of encountering Pokémon from the movie. To catch Detective Pikachu, players simply needed to snap in-game pictures to trigger a photobomb.
The current season of Pokémon Go, called Adventures Abound, started on September 1 and will continue until December 1. Interestingly, the recent teaser image shared on the game’s Twitter/X page seems to replicate the office of Harry Goodman, the deceased police detective from the Detective Pikachu movie. This connection to Adventures Abound suggests that the return of Detective Pikachu is not a mere coincidence.
Adding to the intrigue, Adventures Abound features a mystery event labeled as “???” scheduled to run from October 5 to 9. Coincidentally, the Nintendo Switch exclusive sequel to Detective Pikachu for the Nintendo 3DS, titled Detective Pikachu Returns, is set to release on October 6.
It all seems to be coming together now. With multiple important dates overlapping, it appears that Detective Pikachu will be making an appearance once again in Pokémon Go. So, if you missed out on catching him during the previous event, don’t worry!
