Time is running out to claim your rewards in MW2 Ranked Play. Treyarch has announced that the mode will be taken offline at the end of season six on December 6th. So, make sure to grab those cosmetic rewards while you still can!
Infinity Ward developed Modern Warfare 2, but Treyarch took the lead in creating Ranked Play for multiplayer and Warzone. These modes quickly became popular within the community, providing a competitive platform for players to showcase their skills.
In February 2023, MW2 multiplayer saw a surge in interest when Ranked Play was introduced. This mode was especially appealing to Call of Duty League fans, offering a way to satisfy their competitive itch from the comfort of their own homes. The developers even offered special recognition for CDL players who made it into the top 250.
Taking inspiration from the success of multiplayer’s Ranked Play, Treyarch launched Warzone’s first Ranked Play mode in May 2023. Content creators eagerly climbed the rankings, aiming to reach the top 250 and demonstrate their battle royale prowess.
Both modes not only provided a competitive experience but also rewarded players with cosmetic items based on their rank at the end of each season. However, Treyarch has now revealed their plans to move on from MW2 Ranked Play.
But don’t worry, MW3 players won’t have to wait too long for their own Ranked Play mode. It is expected to launch in the middle of season one, around early January. More details about MW3 Ranked Play will be announced by Treyarch in the coming weeks.
