Dota 2 players were oblivious to the clever hint dropped in the New Frontiers update back in April, which foreshadowed the introduction of the new hero, Ringmaster. The clue was hidden in an image, featuring a circus admission ticket discreetly placed beneath a coffee cup and plate. The ticket’s red and cream colors matched those of Ringmaster, making it an obvious nod to the eerie circus-themed hero. Notably, popular Dota 2 personality SirActionSlacks was one of the few who noticed this clue early on and correctly connected it to the new hero.
Despite the early hint, Ringmaster will not be available for play until early next year. Based on the release pattern of recent heroes in Dota 2, it is predicted that Valve will introduce Ringmaster sometime between February and May 2024.
While the teaser trailer did not reveal much about Ringmaster’s abilities, his name and overall theme have drawn comparisons to Puppet Master from Heroes of Newerth, another popular MOBA game. Some speculate that Ringmaster may be a reimagined version of Puppet Master with a different appearance, especially considering Puppet Master was hinted at in a 2022 data leak. Only time will tell if this theory holds true or if Ringmaster is an entirely new creation.
In the meantime, players can only speculate about what this mischievous hero has in store for them next year.
