League of Legends superstar Seo “Kanavi” Jin-hyeok has acknowledged the talent of his fellow professional players, specifically naming G2 Esports as a standout team during recent scrims. Kanavi’s teammate, Park “Ruler” Jae-hyuk, also praised G2 and Dplus KIA as impressive opponents in practice.
G2 Esports is known for their unorthodox playstyle, often catching top teams off-guard with wild champion picks and strategies. Despite the meta shifting towards a more traditional style of play, G2’s aggressive approach remains, leaving a strong impression on their competition.
Gen.G’s mid laner Jeong “Chovy” Ji-hoon also recognized G2’s impact, singling out Rasmus “Caps” Winther as one of the few European players to leave a significant impression on him. G2’s penchant for securing the most kills per game among major region contenders further demonstrates their bloodthirsty tendencies.
Kanavi previously faced G2 at Worlds 2022, where JD Gaming emerged victorious in every match against them during the group stage. However, G2’s roster has undergone changes since then, with new faces like rookie jungler Martin “Yike” Sundelin looking to make their mark.
JDG’s star-studded roster, including Kanavi, will face off against Team BDS in their first matchup of the Worlds 2023 main stage. While JDG is heavily favored, the match against the European team that made it through the play-in stage promises to be an exciting test for the Chinese powerhouse.
The main stage of Worlds 2023 will commence on Thursday, Oct. 19 at 12am CT.
