While players of Baldur’s Gate 3 have developed strong attachments to companions like Shadowheart and Karlach, Gale has unfortunately become the most disliked among them. However, a small group of fans who appreciate the wizard are trying to change everyone’s opinion.
Gale’s unpopularity stems from his unique condition, which requires players to donate magical artifacts to him. If ignored, he will permanently leave the party and strike a deal with the devil Raphael. Additionally, there is a bug that causes Gale to kill everyone at camp, including other non-playable characters.
Despite these drawbacks, I have found Gale to be one of the most genuine companions in Baldur’s Gate 3. After fulfilling his demands in Act One, he sincerely explained his condition and apologized for any trouble caused. Other players share this sentiment.
Some players argue that Gale is often misunderstood and actually quite transparent about important matters. They believe his requests are reasonable, and he is one of the most selfless companions, alongside Wyll.
Of course, Gale is not without flaws. However, it is important to acknowledge that none of the other companions are perfect either. Even characters like Shadowheart and Wyll initially withhold information and act selfishly until trust is earned.
If given a chance in your next Baldur’s Gate 3 playthrough, Gale may surprise you and become a beloved companion who offers valuable assistance with the right build.
