Wizards of the Coast has announced their latest collaboration in the Universes Beyond series: Fallout. This new set is based on the popular video game by Bethesda Studios. One of the highlights of the set is the Scrappy Survivors Commander deck, led by the beloved companion Dogmeat.
Dogmeat, the loyal canine companion from the Fallout franchise, takes center stage as the leader of the pack in the Scrappy Survivors Commander deck. This Naya-colored (Green, White, and Red) deck focuses on bringing back Enchantment and Equipment cards from the graveyard, offering a unique and flavorful theme.
Meet Dogmeat:
- Name: Dogmeat
- Mana Cost: RGW
- Type: Legendary Creature – Dog
- Rarity: Mythic Rare
- Ability: When Dogmeat enters the battlefield, mill five cards, then return an Aura or Equipment card from your graveyard to your hand. Whenever a creature you control that’s enchanted or equipped attacks, create a Junk token.
Dogmeat’s ability reflects his role as a faithful companion. When he enters the battlefield, the player mills five cards and retrieves an Aura or Equipment card from the graveyard. This represents Dogmeat’s knack for finding valuable items amidst the junk. Additionally, whenever a creature under the player’s control that’s enchanted or equipped attacks, a Junk token is created.
Introducing Junk Tokens:
- Name: Junk Token
- Type: Token Artifact – Junk
- Rarity: Common
- Ability: TAP, Sacrifice this artifact: Exile the top card of your library. You may play that card this turn. Activate only as a sorcery.
Junk Tokens are a new addition to the game, introduced with Dogmeat’s ability. These artifact tokens can be sacrificed to exile the top card of the library. The player then has the option to play that card during their turn. Junk Tokens provide a pseudo card-draw effect, allowing players to access additional resources.
The Fallout Commander deck featuring Dogmeat is set to release in February 2024, alongside three other Commander products. Stay tuned for more information and spoilers leading up to the release.
