Jingliu, the newest Ice Destruction character in Honkai: Star Rail, has quickly gained praise from the community. However, players have discovered one major issue with her appearance that they are rallying against.
While navigating the game world, Jingliu alternates between wearing her blindfold and removing it. This has been a defining aspect of her appearance since her transformation after being lost to the Mara and defeated by her star pupil Jing Yuan.
Although Jingliu is not blind, she uses the blindfold to maintain control over her sanity under the influence of the Mara. Unfortunately, players are upset that there is no option to toggle the blindfold on or off, preventing them from capturing photos or enjoying her gameplay without it.
Some players have expressed frustration on Reddit, jokingly claiming that Jingliu is “literally unplayable” due to this oversight. They wish there was a way to see her with or without the blindfold, as her bold red eyes are rarely visible.
Many players share this sentiment, flooding official Honkai: Star Rail Reddit posts with comments about wanting to see Jingliu’s eyes since her release on October 11. Despite this small issue, it is a testament to how impressive Jingliu’s skillset is that players can only find minor complaints.
One player expressed their dislike for the blindfold, wishing it could be toggled on and off because they find Jingliu’s eyes “amazing” but rarely get to see them. The majority of the community seems to agree, hoping for a toggle feature to be added in the future.
Another player pointed out the oddity of Jingliu keeping her blindfold on when looking at her phone in the game’s menu. They believe it would make more sense for functionality if the blindfold could be switched on and off as desired.
Players are so eager for a toggle option that they have discovered a temporary workaround using Jingliu’s idle animation. By triggering her second idle move in camera mode and turning around, players can keep her blindfold off for the entire gameplay session. However, this effect needs to be retriggered each time the game is logged on and off.
Despite the lack of a blindfold toggle, Jingliu is an impressive character worth considering. The developers have shown a willingness to listen to player feedback, so there is a good chance this feature will be added in the future. Therefore, there is no reason to overlook her based solely on this issue.
