Kim “kkOma” Jeong-gyun has revealed his reasons for returning to T1, stating that his desire to work with the team for a decade outweighed any financial considerations. In an interview, he explained that he received the offer while T1 was still competing in the World Championship and immediately signed the contract, without knowing the final roster for the next season. For kkOma, the opportunity to share the ups and downs with T1 fans and spend another 10 years with Faker was more important than money.
The renowned head coach previously led T1 from 2013 to 2019, during which the team achieved three World Championship victories and eight LCK titles. After a season with the LPL’s Vici Gaming and a successful stint with DAMWON, kkOma took a break before returning to T1. Prior to rejoining the organization, he coached Korea’s League team at the Hangzhou Asian Games, where they won the gold medal.
With T1 securing their fourth Worlds trophy this year, the team faces high expectations heading into the 2024 season.
