Riot Games Reveals Upcoming Changes for Patch 13.18

Riot Games has provided a sneak peek into the upcoming changes for League of Legends Patch 13.18. This update will include buffs and nerfs for 12 champions, with a particular focus on addressing the overtuned champions from recent changes.

Nerfs for Tryndamere, Red Kayn, and Jarvan IV

Lead designer Matt “Phroxzon” Leung-Harrison acknowledged that Tryndamere, Red Kayn, and Jarvan IV have become too strong and require adjustments. Despite preemptive nerfs, Tryndamere’s recent range buff has propelled him to the top, while Jarvan IV has benefited greatly from changes to Goredrinker and Spear of Shojin. The aim is to bring these champions back in line with Patch 13.18.

Additional Nerfs for Rell, Xayah, and Zeri

In addition to the aforementioned champions, Rell, Xayah, and Zeri are also slated for nerfs in Patch 13.18. These adjustments aim to address their current power levels and ensure a more balanced gameplay experience.

Buffs for Thresh, Kennen, and Irelia

To provide some much-needed help, Thresh, Kennen, and Irelia will receive buffs in Patch 13.18. These champions have been struggling with win rates below 48 percent and will benefit from the adjustments to improve their performance.

Specific Adjustments for Gwen, Jhin, and Senna

Gwen’s jungle build, known as “Gwungle,” will be made more viable in Patch 13.18. Jhin will also see adjustments to increase his presence in high-rank matches, while Senna’s crit build will receive a boost to enhance her burst damage.

Item Changes

Spear of Shojin is set to receive a nerf in Patch 13.18, addressing its current power level. Riot Games will also focus on first-item priorities by buffing Stormrazer. Additionally, adjustments will be made to Statikk Shiv, specifically targeting its wave-clearing strength, and Crown of the Shattered Queen.

Overall Satisfaction with the Meta

Despite the need for these adjustments, Phroxzon and the development team are generally satisfied with the current meta. The majority of changes in Patch 13.18 will be minor, reflecting their contentment with the overall state of the game.

Naafiri’s Success and Upcoming Addition

Phroxzon expressed satisfaction with the launch of Naafiri, considering it one of the more successful champion releases in recent memory. Naafiri has settled well into the game, with a win rate of 50 percent in the mid lane. Work is still needed to improve her jungle build. Additionally, Patch 13.18 will introduce the 165th champion, Briar, to the League of Legends roster.

The exact value changes for Patch 13.18 will be released soon, and the update is scheduled to launch next week.
