Lost Caverns of Ixalan spoilers have revealed a unique one-drop Artifact called Dusk Rose Reliquary. This new addition to Magic: The Gathering provides a sorcery speed removal spell with a sacrificial cost and the added bonus of Ward.
Card Name | Mana Cost | Type | Rarity | Ward | Additional Cost | Ability |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Dusk Rose Reliquary | W | Artifact | Uncommon | Two | Sacrifice an Artifact or creature | Exile target Artifact or creature an opponent controls until Dusk Rose Reliquary leaves the battlefield |
Standard format has seen the impact of two-mana, uncommon removal spells like Rite of Oblivion and Ossification. Dusk Rose Reliquary takes this design further by introducing an Artifact with the additional cost of sacrificing a creature or Artifact.
While not necessarily better than its counterparts, Dusk Rose Reliquary offers a cheap and efficient removal option in the right deck. It can disrupt an opponent’s board state and fits well in BW Aristocrat or Mardu sacrifice-themed builds.
The inclusion of Ward Two adds extra value to Dusk Rose Reliquary. Opponents often overlook it, and when they do address it, the additional cost of two mana to retrieve their creature can work against them.
Players will have the opportunity to test out Dusk Rose Reliquary at prerelease events for Lost Caverns of Ixalan, which will be available in local game stores starting November 10th.
