The NBA 2K League has appointed Andrew Perlmutter as its new CEO, taking over from Brendan Donohue. Donohue had been the league’s president since its inception and led it for six years. Perlmutter will lead the league into its seventh season.
According to a source close to the NBA, Donohue will continue working in the sports industry, although it is unclear whether he will remain with the NBA or pursue other opportunities. During Donohue’s tenure, the league experienced significant expansion and secured broadcasting deals with NBA TV, among other achievements. The league also received interest from multiple cities to host games in 2022.
Perlmutter brings a wealth of experience in revenue growth, strategic planning, and digital product development to the NBA 2K League. He will assume his role on October 2 and report to a board of directors that includes NBA commissioner Adam Silver and executives from Take-Two Interactive, the developer of NBA 2K.
NBA President of Global Partnerships Salvatore LaRocca expressed his satisfaction with Perlmutter’s appointment, stating that he looks forward to working with him as the league enters its next phase of growth.
