Veloci-Ramp-Tor: A Preconstructed Dinosaur Commander Deck
Magic: The Gathering has introduced new dinosaur cards in the Eternal formats, including Commander, through the Lost Caverns of Ixalan Precon decks. These decks consist of four Lost Caverns of Ixalan (LCI) Commander Precon decks, each featuring eight new MTG cards along with the face and secondary commanders. One of these preconstructed decks is called Veloci-Ramp-Tor, which revolves around the powerful dinosaurs of Ixalan. The deck showcases Pantlaza, Sun-Favored as the face commander and Wayta, Trainer Prodigy as the secondary commander.
Pantlaza, Sun-Favored: The Face Commander
Pantlaza, Sun-Favored is the face commander of the Dinosaur Commander deck. This five-drop card in RGW cares about dinosaurs entering the battlefield and utilizes the Discover mechanic, offering potential board-state advantage and card advantage.
Wayta, Trainer Prodigy: The Secondary Commander
Wayta, Trainer Prodigy serves as the secondary commander in the Veloci-Ramp-Tor Precon deck. This three-drop human warrior in RGW is a valuable card in the deck, particularly within a Dinosaur build that heavily focuses on the Enrage mechanic.

Dinosaur Egg: Evolving Power
Dinosaur Egg, a rare two-drop card, features the MTG mechanic Evolve. When a Dinosaur Egg dies, it can Discover, making it a valuable early-game creature that can grow in power and toughness through Evolve. It synergizes well with Dino Egg producers like Palani’s Hatcher.
Bronzebeak Foragers: Versatile Removal
Bronzebeak Foragers, a rare four-drop 3/4 Dinosaur, offers a potential upgrade from Grasp of Fate. It can exile multiple non-land permanents from your opponents. Additionally, its activated ability allows you to put those exiled cards into an opponent’s graveyard, while gaining life equal to the mana value of that card. This card is particularly useful in a Dinosaur Commander deck with ample mana resources.
Sunfrill Imitator: Early Threat, Late Menace
Sunfrill Imitator, a rare three-drop 3/3 creature, is crucial for ramping up in Dinosaur decks. It starts as a strong early-game threat and can become an even greater menace later on. When it becomes a copy of another Dinosaur, it retains its name, allowing it to bypass the Legend rule. It also copies the abilities and keywords of the Dinosaur it imitates, such as Trample and Vigilance.
Wrathful Raptors: Enrage Synergy
Wrathful Raptors, a five-drop 5/5 Dinosaur with Trample, synergizes with the MTG Enrage mechanic. It has a unique ability that deals damage to any opponent or target that isn’t a Dinosaur. With its ability to withstand up to four damage without being destroyed, it can redirect that damage to other targets or ping an opponent’s life total instead.
Scion of Calamity: Myriad Destruction
Scion of Calamity, a rare five-drop 5/5 creature, utilizes the Myriad MTG mechanic. When it or a copy of it deals combat damage to a player, it destroys a target Artifact or Enchantment controlled by that player. This card is a solid addition to a go-wide strategy in a Dinosaur Commander deck.
Curious Altisaur: Card Draw and Defense
Curious Altisaur, a rare four-drop 2/5 creature, addresses the card draw issue often faced by creature decks. With Reach and Vigilance, it serves as a solid blocker with a toughness of five. Whenever a Dinosaur you control deals combat damage, Curious Altisaur allows you to draw a card, providing much-needed card advantage.
From the Rubble: Resurrecting Creatures
From the Rubble, a six-drop White Enchantment, offers versatility in various typal Commander decks. Upon entering the battlefield, players choose a creature type. At the beginning of your end step, you may return a creature of the chosen type from the graveyard to the battlefield. This card provides a powerful resurrection effect for specific creature types.
Progenitor’s Icon: Evolving Mana Rock
Progenitor’s Icon, a three-drop colorless Artifact, adds to the ever-evolving world of mana rocks in MTG. Its controller chooses a creature type upon entering the battlefield, and it can tap to add one mana of any color. Additionally, it can tap to grant the chosen creature type Flash. Progenitor’s Icon is a valuable addition to any typal deck that can accommodate a mana rock.
