Nouns Esports, a professional esports organization, has revealed changes to its Dota 2 roster. The team has decided to retain Rodrigo “Lelis” Santos and Nicolas “Gunnar” Lopez from last year’s lineup while adding Tal “Fly” Aizik from Shopify Rebellion. However, contracts with Moo, Yamsun, and K1 have not been renewed. The roster is still incomplete as the organization searches for a permanent mid-laner and another player.
To ensure their qualification chances for the ESL One Kuala Lumpur 2023 Major’s closed qualifiers, Nouns Esports has enlisted stand-ins for the start of the season. Daniel “Stormstormer” Schoetzau and Yuma Langlet will be joining the team temporarily. Stormstormer was already moved to Entity’s inactive roster, while Yuma may be a loanee from Nigma Galaxy.
Fly joins Nouns Esports after a relatively successful year with Shopify Rebellion, although the team’s failure to advance in TI 2023 led to their disbandment. With the qualifiers approaching, Nouns Esports opted for stand-ins to avoid jeopardizing their chances of qualifying.
While most teams in Europe and SEA have finalized their rosters, North America is experiencing a slower roster shuffle season. Major teams like TSM and Shopify Rebellion have yet to announce their lineups, and Nouns Esports has only completed half of their roster. The region’s poor performances in 2023 may also result in a reduction of qualifier spots for major tournaments, making it less attractive for players seeking a fresh start.
As the roster shuffle season continues, it remains uncertain whether Stormstormer and Yuma will become permanent members of Nouns Esports. The region lock rules may prolong the roster shuffle season in North America, potentially extending into 2024.
