OG, the star-studded Dota 2 team that triumphed at The International in 2018, could have had a Southeast Asian player on their roster instead of Ana. Anathan “ana” Pham left the team at the end of 2017, prompting OG to search for a replacement. One of the players they considered was Talon’s 23savage.
During a recent Dota 2 hub, N0tail, a member of OG, confirmed that 23savage was high on their list of potential candidates. However, 23savage ultimately decided to stay with his then-team T1, as OG wasn’t the most attractive option at the time. T1 was consistently improving, and 23savage chose to trust the process.
Despite missing out on 23savage, OG went on to win The International twice in 2018 and 2019. Meanwhile, 23savage left T1 and joined Talon, where he helped the team become the top team in Southeast Asia. Talon recently secured an upper bracket slot in TI 2023’s main event by defeating Gaimin Gladiators.
When TI 2023 resumes next week, Talon will face Liquid on the main stage.
