Players Divided on League of Legends’ New Champion, Briar

Briar’s Lack of Interactions with Other Champions Disappoints Players

Briar, the latest addition to League of Legends, has sparked mixed reactions among players. While many appreciate her compelling background and strong personality, others feel that Riot Games missed an opportunity to fully explore her narrative potential.

One player expressed their disappointment on Reddit, pointing out that Briar only has interactions with three champions. They also mentioned the absence of color stories since Naafiri, which further adds to the feeling of neglect. Players believe that new champions should have more connections with other characters in the game, making them feel like integral parts of Runeterra.

With over 150 champions in League, each with their own relationships and connections, players expect more from Briar. It is particularly puzzling that she lacks interactions with champions who played significant roles in her lore, such as Swain, who captured her. This isolation from the rest of the roster leaves players wanting more.

The comments section of the thread revealed further frustrations with Riot Games. Players noted that voice lines have been downscaled in recent years, removing the small details that made League more than just a MOBA. The pace of champion releases has also slowed down, yet these important aspects seem to be lacking, giving the impression of less effort being put into the game.

One player pointed out that Riot Games may have used complaints about champions talking too much as an excuse to cut back on voice overs. However, champions still have a lot to say, albeit repeating the same lines over and over again, like Nidalee constantly meowing throughout the game.

This issue with Briar’s design is part of a larger trend that players are not happy with. Despite these concerns, Briar has received praise for her abilities, strong personality, and the stunning reveal trailer.
