Pokémon Go Bug Causes Game to Freeze, Divides Community

Derek Morgan

A game-breaking bug in Pokémon Go’s Party Play feature is causing frustration among players, leading to a divided community. While some players are angry at Niantic’s lack of response, others are highlighting the benefits of Party Play and its potential over its issues.

On October 30, a Reddit user named u/LastandLeast warned players not to use the bugged Party Play feature, as it had locked them and their friends out of the game. They mentioned that restarting the game, logging in from a different account, and reinstalling the game did not fix the issue. Some players reported being stuck for over four hours.

In an update to the post, LastandLeast mentioned that they were able to get back into the game after the Party Play session ended. However, they expressed frustration with having to wait for hours to play again.

While some commenters sympathized with the affected players and criticized Niantic for not addressing the bug, others reminded them that software programs often have glitches.

Despite Niantic acknowledging the problem on Twitter and advising affected players to wait for the session to end, it seems that a significant number of players are still experiencing the bug. One player claimed that Party Play has been glitchy for a week, with little assistance from Niantic.

In addition to the game-freezing bug, players are also unhappy with the new Party Play Challenges. These challenges have become more difficult to complete but offer no additional rewards. The challenges were released on October 31, coinciding with the appearance of the bug.

Niantic will need to address the bugs affecting Pokémon Go’s Party Play feature, but it is unlikely that they will make changes to the challenges despite player outrage.
