A Pokémon Go player was caught in the act of raiding at Old Trafford while a Manchester United match was underway, highlighting the extreme boredom experienced by fans in attendance.
Manchester United’s season has been far from impressive, with their struggles evident in their last-place standing in the Champions League group and a five-point gap in the race for a top-four finish in the Premier League.
On November 11, fans at Old Trafford were hoping for a morale-boosting victory against underdogs Luton Town. However, the match ended in a scrappy 1-0 win for Erik Ten Hag’s side, failing to alleviate the mounting pressure on the team.
The most telling sign of United’s lackluster performances this season was a fan resorting to playing Pokémon Go during the match, finding more excitement in a raid than on the pitch.
Instead of enduring the laborious display by his team against a significantly less expensive squad, the fan chose to take on Garchomp in a raid. And honestly, who can blame him?
Opting for Pokémon Go was the best alternative to watching Manchester United, as the only other option would have been watching paint dry, which was not possible in this situation due to security measures.
Hopefully, the player had better luck battling Garchomp than United had in their major tests this season. Defeats against Copenhagen, Galatasaray, and Crystal Palace cannot be compared to losing against a legendary Pokémon. It’s more like facing a Mewtwo and losing to a Pidgey or a Caterpie.
