Pokémon Scarlet and Violet Players Prepare for The Teal Mask DLC with New Teams

superadmin

Some dedicated players of Pokémon Scarlet and Violet are concerned that the upcoming DLC, The Teal Mask, will be too easy for their powerful teams. To add excitement and challenge to their adventure, these players are opting to build new teams of weaker Pokémon instead of relying on their high-level, fully trained Pokémon.

In previous Pokémon games, opponents’ levels were not scaled based on the player’s team levels. While the Sword and Shield expansions introduced some level scaling, it was limited to around level 60 and tied to the number of gym badges earned in the main story. As a result, players are not expecting level scaling in The Teal Mask DLC and are preparing new level 60 teams.

Responding to a Reddit post about changing teams for the DLC, one player stated, “Considering how my team is all at level 100, yes I will get a new team.” Others shared similar sentiments, expressing their desire to bring teams ranging from level 50 to 70 to keep the challenge alive.

Some members of the Pokémon community have little hope for level scaling in The Teal Mask DLC, dismissing suggestions as mere jokes.

Another approach taken by players is to introduce an element of randomness to the challenge. One player asked their spouse to pick a random number between 1 and 400, which determined the shiny Pokémon they would use as their starter for the DLC. This player lucked out with a Cubchoo, a Pokémon they are excited to have on their team.

This is not the first time Pokémon fans have sought to increase the game’s difficulty through self-imposed challenges. Creating a new team is one of the simplest challenges the community has come up with. The Nuzlocke challenge, where fainted Pokémon are considered “dead” and cannot be used again, remains one of the most popular challenges.

Inspired by these Reddit users, I too will create a new team for my The Teal Mask run. I have a collection of shiny Pokémon ranging from level 50 to 60 that I obtained while shiny hunting in Scarlet and Violet. It’s time to put them to use! My party will consist of Kingambit, Dragapult, Mismagius, Tinkaton, Kilowattrel, and Cloyster. What about you?
