Igor “Redgar” Vlasov, the captain of the Russian VALORANT team for Team Liquid, has left the organization and joined Giants, another team in the VCT EMEA League. Redgar had been with Liquid since November 2022, but now he is moving on to a new chapter in his career.
Redgar joined Liquid alongside his former Gambit teammate Ayaz “nAts” Akhmetshin and Saif “Sayf” Jibraeel to rebuild the team after the departure of ScreaM and Nabil “Nivera” Benrlitom. While they achieved success in the VCT EMEA League by defeating Fnatic in May, the team struggled in international events. They were notably the first team eliminated from VALORANT Champions in August after losses to Natus Vincere and LOUD.
Redgar will now be joining Giants to fill the void left by Emir “rhyme” Muminovic, who retired in September. Giants also faced an early exit from VALORANT Champions and is looking to strengthen their lineup for the upcoming season. Redgar expressed his gratitude for joining the Spanish organization and is determined to lead the team to victory.
Meanwhile, Team Liquid is faced with the task of finding a new in-game leader to replace Redgar and rebuilding their entire squad. Sayf has already departed to join Vitality, while dimasick and soulcas were the first to leave following VALORANT Champions. Only nAts, Jamppi, and substitute Harmii remain in Liquid’s VALORANT roster at the moment.
