The highly anticipated DLC for the Resident Evil 4 remake is set to release sooner than expected. The Separate Ways campaign, along with the fan-favorite mode The Mercenaries, will be available as downloadable content on September 21st. In addition, a free update will introduce the long-awaited VR mode in winter.
This exciting news was revealed during the PlayStation State of Play Showcase, and fans of the Resident Evil series are buzzing with anticipation. The remastered game has received rave reviews, currently holding a solid 93 on Metacritic, just three points behind the original 2005 release.
While the Resident Evil 2 remake recently became the best-selling game in the franchise, there is still plenty of time for RE4 to catch up. With these three major expansions on the horizon, it’s clear that RE4 will continue to captivate fans across all platforms.
PlayStation VR owners, in particular, have reason to celebrate as there has been a lack of releases for the device. Sony has been tight-lipped about first-party VR content, but the arrival of the RE4 VR mode is sure to please fans. Additionally, Ghostbusters: Rise of the Ghost Lord, another VR game, will be released on October 26th, just in time for Halloween.
The PlayStation State of Play Showcase also provided glimpses of other highly anticipated games, including Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, Final Fantasy VII: Rebirth, and the sequel to Helldivers.
