The Pokémon Trading Card Game (TCG) is bringing back a fan-favorite feature with the release of Scarlet & Violet—Paldean Fates on Jan. 26, 2024. This highly anticipated set will feature over 130 Shiny Pokémon cards, including popular characters like Pikachu and Charizard. Get ready to embark on a thrilling hunt for these rare and elusive cards!
Similar to previous sets like Hidden Fates and Shining Fates, the main attraction of Paldean Fates is the vast collection of Shiny Pokémon variants. These cards will be more difficult to obtain, adding an extra layer of excitement to the TCG experience. In addition, this set introduces Shiny versions of Gen IX Pokémon such as Ceruledge, Tinkaton, Dondozo, Tatsugiri, and many more.
Paldean Fates will feature a total of 11 Shiny Pokémon ex cards, along with seven new Pokémon ex and three Tera Pokémon ex. Players can also look forward to three illustration rares and eight special illustration rares, which will showcase Shiny Pokémon ex or Supporter cards. The set will also introduce six “Hyper Rare” Pokémon ex cards with a new raised foil effect for added visual appeal.
To make this expansion even more special, Paldean Fates will not be available in booster boxes. Instead, players can choose from a variety of products including Elite Trainer Boxes, Mini Tins, Promo Tins, Booster Bundles, and a Premium Collection. The Elite Trainer Box will be released on Jan. 26, 2024, while the other products will be available on Feb. 9 and Feb. 23.
The Promo Tins, which will be released on Feb. 9, 2024, will feature one Shiny Pokémon ex promo card. Players can expect to find Tera Charizard ex, Great Tusk ex, or Iron Treads ex in these tins. If you’re eager to secure a Shiny Charizard promo, be sure to keep an eye out for these tins before they sell out.
The Mini Tins, available on Feb. 23, will include Illustration Rare promos for Maushold, Smoliv, Tinkatink, Finizen, or Flamigo, along with two packs. Additionally, the Premium Collection will offer three variations, each featuring one of the Paldean Starters, Meowscarada ex, Skeledirge ex, or Quaquaval ex. These collections will also include an oversized Shiny variant card for added collectability.
Excitingly, Paldean Fates will be added to Pokémon TCG Live on Jan. 25, 2024, a day before the physical release. This digital platform allows players to enjoy the new expansion online and engage in battles with other trainers from around the world.
