On the 10-year anniversary of the release of Siege of Orgrimmar for World of Warcraft: Mists of Pandaria, a secret message hidden in one of the expansion’s cinematics has been revealed. The message, spelled out in exploding boards behind Garrosh Hellscream, reads “KEK” for just one frame. While it’s unclear if players had previously noticed this hidden message, it’s a clever and humorous nod to the game’s community.
Terran Gregory, Cinematic Narrative Director at WoW, shared the discovery on Twitter, marking the anniversary of Patch 5.4. The cinematic in question depicts Garrosh preparing to lead the “True Horde” to victory, only to be confronted by Taran Zhu, leader of Shado-Pan. After a fierce battle, Garrosh returns to Orgrimmar to face the combined forces of the Rebellious Horde and Alliance.
The Siege of Orgrimmar marked the conclusion of Mists of Pandaria, with Garrosh defeated and sent to stand trial in Pandaria. Vol’Jin was elected as the new Horde Warchief, bringing a semblance of peace to Azeroth. However, players familiar with subsequent expansions, such as Warlords of Draenor, know that Garrosh’s story didn’t end there.
