After a year of team-swapping, veteran LCS player Ssumday is once again on the hunt for a new team as his contract with 100 Thieves is coming to an end. Ssumday, known for his long-standing presence in the league, played a crucial role in 100 Thieves’ success, including winning an LCS Championship. He briefly joined Evil Geniuses but returned to 100 Thieves for the Summer Split. However, with his contract expiring soon, Ssumday is now exploring his options for the upcoming season.
Ssumday has been a prominent figure in professional League of Legends for over a decade, playing for teams in both the LCK and LCS. During his time with KT Rolster, he achieved multiple top finishes and even made an appearance at the World Championship. In the LCS, Ssumday became synonymous with 100 Thieves and their rapid accomplishments.
Known for his strong-side top lane strategy, Ssumday stood out among other LCS top laners. He excelled on champions like Jax, Gnar, Renekton, and K’Sante, showcasing his skill and synergy with his long-time jungler Closer. His consistent performance shattered the stereotype of top lane players being isolated on an “island.”
Last year, 100 Thieves surprised fans by announcing that Ssumday would not be returning for the 2023 Spring Split. Instead, he joined Evil Geniuses, only to part ways with them after failing to secure a victory in the Spring Playoffs. This decision came amidst significant internal restructuring within 100 Thieves, including the separation of Juvee and layoffs within the organization. Evil Geniuses also underwent staff releases, with some former employees speaking out about their experiences.
The 2024 LCS season is set to begin early next year. In the meantime, fans can enjoy the ongoing League World Championship, which will culminate in the grand finals on November 19th.
