Star Wars Eclipse: Every Main Character Can Die, Says Quantic Dream VP

Xavier Ward

Eclipse, the highly anticipated narrative adventure game from Quantic Dream, is still in development, and new details have emerged about its gameplay. In an interview with IGN, Lisa Pendse, Quantic Dream’s vice president of marketing, revealed that every main character in the game can die, but the story will continue regardless of the outcome.

Pendse confirmed that Eclipse follows the same structure as Quantic Dream’s previous titles, such as Detroit: Become Human, where the story progresses even after negative outcomes. She emphasized that there is no “game over” in Eclipse, and anything can happen, keeping players engaged as the story unfolds.

Despite the excitement surrounding Eclipse, Pendse mentioned that the game is still a work in progress and not yet ready for release. She reassured fans that NetEase, the owner of Quantic Dream, is not imposing strict release dates on the developer, allowing them to take their time to deliver a polished and immersive experience.

As for the specifics of Eclipse, Pendse stated that it is too early to provide further details about the characters and narrative. However, she did mention that the game is set during the High Republic era, hundreds of years before Anakin Skywalker’s birth, and will offer players multiple paths to explore.

The initial announcement of Star Wars Eclipse in 2021 showcased a visually stunning CGI trailer featuring various planets, alien races, and droids from the Star Wars universe. While an official release date has not been announced, there were reports of a potential delay to 2027-2028 due to hiring issues.

Despite the limited information available, it is evident that Quantic Dream has ambitious plans for Star Wars Eclipse. Fans will have to patiently wait for more updates and see how the game unfolds in the coming years.
