A Starfield player has made a remarkable claim that the game saved their life and the lives of their family members. They believe that if they hadn’t been so engrossed in playing the game, they would have been asleep and potentially died from smoke inhalation during a fire.
The player shared their story on Reddit, explaining that they had been eagerly following the development of Starfield since rumors of its release began. On the night of August 31, they heard an explosion from their neighbor’s apartment, which quickly turned into a fire. Acting swiftly, they alerted their wife and grabbed their cat before evacuating the building. Fortunately, they only suffered minor burns.
The player emphasized that if they hadn’t been playing Starfield at 2:26 a.m., they would have been asleep and likely exposed to the dangerous smoke from the explosion. This could have resulted in a much worse outcome for them.
When asked about the cause of the explosion, the player speculated that it might have been an oxygen tank. They also confirmed that their Xbox was safe from the fire and that they were currently playing the game in a hotel.
The Reddit post received sympathetic comments from other users, all expressing their well wishes for the player’s safety.
Starfield is currently available for early access to those who purchased the premium edition, with the public release scheduled for September 6.
