T1 Roster Staying Together in 2024 After Dominating Worlds Win

Xavier Ward

After their impressive victory over Weibo Gaming in the League of Legends Worlds finals match on Nov. 19, it has been reported that the starting T1 roster will remain intact for the 2024 season.

The year 2023 didn’t start off well for T1, with a devastating loss against DRX at the 2022 Worlds Championship Series. This led to harsh criticism and doubts about the team’s cohesion. Despite winning the LCK 2023 Spring Split, T1 faced further challenges when their star player, Lee ‘Faker’ Sang-hyeok, had to be benched due to an arm injury. They also came close to missing the LCK playoffs for the first time in five years. Going into Worlds 23, there were uncertainties about the team’s future.

In September, T1’s ADC, Lee ‘Gumayusi’ Min-hyeong, hinted in an interview that if they didn’t win Worlds, changes to the roster were likely. However, with their recent victory, rumors started circulating about potential roster changes. Fortunately, Sheep Esports’ sources indicate that T1 is renewing the contracts of all starting players for 2024.

This news comes as a relief for fans of T1’s top laner Choi ‘Zeus’ Woo-je, ADC Lee ‘Gumayusi’ Min-hyeong, and support Ryu ‘Keria’ Min-seok, as their contracts were set to expire at the end of the year. Although the details of their contracts have not been officially announced or updated in the League of Legends Esports Global Contract Database, T1 released a teaser for their 2024 roster, suggesting that the reports of contract renewals are accurate.

As we eagerly await an official announcement from T1 or an update in the contract database, it is hopeful that Zeus, Oner, Faker, Gumayusi, and Keria will continue to be part of the starting lineup for T1 in the upcoming year.
