Team Liquid is set to give rookie mid laner APA another opportunity to showcase his skills in the LCS. According to esports reporter Brieuc Seeger, APA has been re-signed for the starting mid laner position for the 2024 season. The 21-year-old made his LCS debut this summer, stepping in for former Liquid mid laner Haeri.
Prior to joining the LCS, APA had a journeyman career, playing in collegiate and tier-two leagues with teams like Supernova, Barrage, and Maryville University. He finally got his chance with a major North American organization when Liquid signed him for their Challengers team in 2023. However, his performance with the team was mixed.
Liquid had a disappointing start to the year, finishing the 2023 Spring Split in eighth place with an 8-10 record. Despite having star players like Summit, Pyosik, and CoreJJ, they missed out on the playoffs. As a result, Liquid decided to bring back Haeri to the Challengers roster and promote APA to the LCS lineup.
APA’s debut in the LCS went relatively well, with Liquid finishing fourth in the 2023 Summer Split regular season and third in the playoffs. Although he faced tough competition at the 2023 World Championship, including a match against Faker, APA gained valuable experience. With another year under his belt, the rookie mid laner is poised to make further strides in his career in the upcoming season.
