Tundra Esports, a Dota 2 team, is experiencing a major breakdown, causing a ripple effect in the Western Europe (WEU) roster shuffle. As a result, Team Liquid has seized the opportunity to acquire Neta “33” Shapira, the offlaner who helped Tundra win The International (TI).
Following TI 2023, Team Liquid found themselves in need of a new offlaner as their star player, zai, decided to retire. Fans believe that 33 is the perfect fit for the team and will fill this crucial role.
33 achieved legendary status during his time with Tundra, where he played a pivotal role in their victory at TI 2022. Tundra dominated the Dota 2 scene during the tournament, delivering a stunning performance by defeating Team Secret in the finals.
Although Tundra performed well regionally in 2023, they faced numerous challenges, including having to move Saksa, a key player, to the inactive roster before TI12. Tundra managed to recruit Topson in time to complete their roster, but unfortunately, they were eliminated from the tournament after a strong showing in the group stage.
In an interview with Dot Esports in October, Nine, a member of Tundra, hinted that Topson’s signing might not last beyond TI 2023. The team had not made any plans for the future after the tournament, leading to the eventual implosion of the roster as other teams began recruiting Tundra players.
Sneyking and Skiter joined the Falcons, while 33 found a new home with Team Liquid. Nine chose to retire from the game, leaving Tundra with only Topson as a temporary signing.
It remains uncertain whether Tundra will form a new Dota 2 squad, potentially centered around Topson, or if they will disband altogether, leaving Topson without a team at the start of the competitive season once again.
