Unconventional Strategies to Defeat Mewtwo in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet

superadmin

From frustrating to triumphant, players have discovered unconventional ways to defeat the formidable Mewtwo in the Tera Raid event of Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. Instead of relying on powerful Pokémon like Mew, some players have successfully defeated Mewtwo using the weakest and most unexpected Pokémon.

The most popular strategy involves bringing four Mew to the raid and following a specific game plan that includes Tera Bug, defensive and offensive setup, and terrain changes. Mew is the preferred choice because it receives a significant stat boost at the beginning of the raid and possesses solid overall stats as a Mythical Pokémon.

However, some players have taken on the challenge of defeating Mewtwo with even weaker Pokémon. In a Reddit thread, a team of players managed to conquer the raid using four unevolved Pokémon: Cacnea, Tinkatink, Greavard, and Hatenna. These Pokémon have base stat totals ranging from 290 to 370, much lower than Mew’s 600. Without the automatic stat boost, they had to work harder to set up and survive before delivering a one-hit knockout blow. Cacnea emerged as the star performer, obliterating Mewtwo with a Power Trip move boosted by Helping Hand, Attack Cheer, Dark Tera, and various stat buffs. This achievement is particularly impressive considering Mewtwo starts the battle with a shield that reduces incoming damage.

In another display of creativity, a player named Nommable123 managed to defeat Mewtwo with the seemingly useless Magikarp. This player had previously used Magikarp in other Tera Raids, but defeating Unrivaled Mewtwo proved to be the most challenging feat. Surprisingly, Magikarp only needed to know two moves: Flail and Splash. While Splash is typically considered useless, Magikarp strategically used it to force a knockout and trigger a stat reset on Mewtwo. Ultimately, Magikarp succeeded with a powerful Flail move boosted by Normal Tera and the support of its team.

Whether it’s a team of weak Pokémon or a lone Magikarp, witnessing them triumph over the Legendary Mewtwo in a raid that has stumped many players is incredibly satisfying.
