Valve has just launched a significant update for CS2, bringing about major changes to the ranking system. Alongside this update, the highly anticipated Inferno map has made its debut, and a new wave of beta invites has been sent out to players in select regions.
The revamped ranking system now includes regional and global rankings, providing players with a precise CS2 rating based on their performance in Premier matches. These ratings will be seasonal, allowing players to strive for the top spot every few months.
In addition to the ranking overhaul, climbing the ranks from Silver to Global Elite has become more challenging. Players will now earn individual badges for each map, meaning they can achieve the Global Elite rank on multiple maps but only hold that rank for specific competitive maps.
To coincide with these changes, Valve has also released another round of beta invites. However, the requirements for beta access have been updated. Players must have CS:GO Prime Status, an active Competitive Skill Group, and play the majority of their official matchmaking games in one of the regions where the Limited Test is available.
The arrival of the Inferno map in CS2’s beta could potentially mark the end of new map introductions. So far, eight other maps have been featured, leaving fans eagerly awaiting the overhaul of the beloved Counter-Strike classic map for the Source 2 update.
An image shared by CS2 on August 31 showcases all the maps in the Active Map Pool, suggesting that there may not be any more maps to be introduced before the full release. However, this has not been confirmed by Valve.
As for the release date of CS2, the deadline of Summer 2023 is approaching. Valve has not indicated any intention to delay the release, nor have they provided a specific date.
