Valve has officially revealed the new and improved version of its popular handheld system, the Steam Deck OLED. The upgraded model, set to be available on November 16, boasts a 7.4-inch touch HDR OLED screen and several significant improvements compared to its predecessor.
The Steam Deck OLED offers 30 to 50 percent more battery life, thanks to a larger battery, a power-efficient OLED display, and an updated AMD APU. It also comes with Wi-Fi 6E for faster downloads and more stable online play.
Early testers have praised the longer battery life, with bigger games like Cyberpunk 2077 and Lies of P being playable for over five hours on a full charge. The Steam Deck OLED is also more manageable, featuring a bigger fan and updated thermals for cooler and quieter operation. Additionally, it is five percent lighter due to the difference in screens.
Other notable upgrades include a longer power cable and double the storage capacity on the base OLED model. The 512GB OLED model is priced at $549, while a 1TB OLED model is available for $649. The 1TB model features a premium anti-glare etched glass, and a limited edition 1TB model comes with a special carrying case for an additional $30.
The original LCD models with 64GB and 512GB storage will be phased out but have received a permanent price drop to $350 and $450, respectively. These discounted prices will remain in effect until stock runs out. The Steam Deck docking station has also been discounted to $80.
