With Worlds 2023 just around the corner, content creators have released their power rankings for the tournament. Surprisingly, only one Western player, Mikyx from G2 Esports, made it onto the list. Both IWillDominate and YamatoCannon placed him at 23rd in their respective rankings, resulting in a combined 21st place for Mikyx.
The power rankings predominantly feature players from the LCK and LPL, such as Ruler, Scout, Chovy, Knight, and 369, who occupy the top spots. However, this doesn’t mean that Western teams are incapable of surprising at Worlds 2023. In previous years, teams like G2 and Cloud9 have exceeded expectations and advanced to the knockout stage. This year, with a new format requiring three wins to progress, anything is possible.
G2 enters the tournament as the LEC’s first seed after a convincing victory over Fnatic in the 2023 LEC Season Finals. Therefore, it comes as no surprise that they are considered one of the favorites to cause an upset. Mikyx, with his exceptional form and extensive experience, deserves recognition as one of the best Western players at the event.
Worlds 2023 kicks off on October 10th with the play-in stage. Team BDS has already secured their spot after a 3-0 victory over Golden Guardians.
