Wizards of the Coast has released Wilds of Eldraine (WOE), the latest Standard-legal set for Magic: The Gathering Arena and Online. This new set introduces support for Faerie and Dragon typal decks, offering players exciting new options for their gameplay.
WOE brings back the popular Adventures mechanic and introduces new mechanics like Roles and Bargain, adding a fresh and enjoyable experience to Limited Draft and Sealed formats. Additionally, the Standard format is receiving a boost as rotation won’t occur until next year, allowing for a wide pool of cards that could have a significant impact on the Standard meta.
The recent MTG Arena Early Access event showcased the power of the new Faerie deck in WOE. Players were impressed by the performance of the deck, which featured cards like Talion, the Kindly Lord, Faerie Fencing, Opera, Dreaming Duelist, and Sleep-Cursed Faerie. This Faerie Standard deck is not only affordable but also fast-paced, capable of overwhelming opponents if they fail to control the board state. Talion, the Kindly Lord imposes a tax on opponents for casting spells with a specific mana cost, while Obyra, Dreaming Duelist chips away at their life total.
However, Faeries weren’t the only typal deck to shine during the MTG Arena Early Access event. CVDMTG showcased a powerful four-color Dragon deck, utilizing new WOE cards like The Irencrag for mana fixing and Decadent Dragon//Expensive Taste as a versatile Adventure, body, and Treasure token creator. This Dragon deck includes multicolor Standard legal dragons such as Rith, Liberated Primeval and Rivaz of the Claw, providing a formidable force on the battlefield.
Both the Faerie and Dragon decks proved to be successful during the Early Access event, offering different playstyles and strategies. The Faerie deck excels at quickly taking control of the match and keeping opponents at a disadvantage, while the Dragon deck overwhelms opponents with its powerful flying dragons and devastating combos.
Players can now experience these typal MTG decks for themselves with the digital launch of Wilds of Eldraine on September 5th.
