World of Warcraft Fans Hope for Naga as Playable Race in Upcoming Expansion

Xavier Ward

World of Warcraft fans are eagerly anticipating the next three expansions for the game, which were announced at BlizzCon. One of these expansions, World of Warcraft: Midnight, has sparked speculation among players that the long-awaited Naga race may finally become a playable option. Naga, the serpent-like creatures that have been present in the game since Classic WoW, have always been a popular choice among players due to their humanoid structure and existing animations.

The desire for Naga as a playable race has been voiced by fans for over a decade. Many players feel that aquatic races are often overlooked in RPGs, and they are excited about the possibility of playing as a monstrous-looking Naga. The reintroduction of Naga into WoW’s gameplay in Patch 8.2 with the addition of Nazjatar further fueled this desire.

In the upcoming expansion, WoW: Midnight, players will return to the elvish capital of Quel’thalas, where the elven clans of old Azeroth will be engaged in a war against the forces of the Void. As Naga were once Highborne elves who served under Queen Azshara, it is plausible that they could play a significant role in the story of Midnight. WoW’s creative director, Chris Metzen, hinted at BlizzCon that the expansion would involve “uniting the elven tribes,” which opens up the possibility of Naga or other elven offshoots joining the Alliance and Horde.

However, WoW: Midnight is still years away, and players will first experience the initial expansion in WoW’s upcoming “Worldsoul Saga.” The first expansion, The War Within, is set to launch in the fall of next year and will introduce the Earthen Dwarves as an allied race.

Expansion Release Date Allied Race
The War Within Fall of next year Earthen Dwarves
World of Warcraft: Midnight Years away Potential for Naga or other elven offshoots
