World of Warcraft players often find themselves in disputes over loot. Whether it’s arguing with guildmates or pick-up group members, these conflicts are a common occurrence. In a recent post on the WoW Classic subreddit, a player shared a story of how two individuals settled their dispute over an item in a dungeon with a duel to the death.
The players in question were arguing over the Belt of Arugal, a waist-slot item that drops from Archmage Arugal, the final boss of Shadowfang Keep. The item is typically sought after by Mages, who wear cloth armor, but in this case, a Hunter was also vying for it.
Instead of resorting to a simple roll for the item, the two players decided to settle their disagreement through a new feature called “Duel to the Death” on Hardcore servers. This feature allows players to engage in a high-stakes duel where the loser faces permanent death and the end of their character.
In front of a crowd of about three dozen spectators outside Orgrimmar, the Hunter emerged victorious, claiming the Belt of Arugal for themselves.
Interestingly, it was the Mage who initiated the duel, despite already losing the item in a loot roll. Unfortunately for the Mage, they lost the duel as well, leaving them empty-handed and without a character.
